Confederated Tribes of The Colville Reservation

The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation is the federally recognized tribe that controls the Colville Indian Reservation, which is located in Washington, United States.

The Confederate Tribes of the Colville Reservation consist of twelve individual tribes. Those tribes are:

  • Arrow Lakes (Lakes, Sinixt)
  • Chelan
  • Colville
  • Entiat
  • Nespelem
  • Okanagan
  • Methow
  • Moses-Columbia
  • Nez Perce
  • Palus
  • San Poil
  • Wenatchee (Wenatchi).

The tribes' traditional territories once encompassed most of what is now known as eastern Washington state and extended into British Columbia, Idaho, and Oregon.

In 1872, the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation was formed by executive order. In 1892, the Reservation boundaries were re-configured and against the wishes of the tribes. The north half of the reservation was removed from the tribes. It was open to settlement by non-natives for homesteading and mining. The current boundaries of the reservation cover a total area of 1,400,000 acres (5,700 km2).
