Community Associations Institute

The Community Associations Institute (CAI) is an influential trade association and special interest group headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia with about 60 chapters in the United States that provides "education and resources to the volunteer homeowners who govern community associations", and petitions for legislative and regulatory beneficence for its members.

CAI is responsible for the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM) program that was established in 1995 and has played a vital role in manager licensing laws in states around the country. Notably, Illinois developed a licensing law which was enacted in 2009.

Famous quotes containing the words community, associations and/or institute:

The poorest children in a community now find the beneficent kindergarten open to them from the age of two-and-a-half to six years. Too young heretofore to be eligible to any public school, they have acquired in their babyhood the vicious tendencies of their own depraved neighborhoods; and to their environment at that tender age had been due the loss of decency and self-respect that no after example of education has been able to restore to them.
    Virginia Thrall Smith (1836–1903)

Hardly a man in the world has an opinion upon morals, politics or religion which he got otherwise than through his associations and sympathies. Broadly speaking, there are none but corn-pone opinions. And broadly speaking, Corn-Pone stands for Self- Approval. Self-approval is acquired mainly from the approval of other people. The result is Conformity.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

Whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying it’s foundation on such principles & organising it’s powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
