Climate of Zambia - Seasons

Seasons

There are two main seasons, the rainy season (November to April) corresponding to summer, and the dry season (May to October/November), corresponding to winter. The dry season is subdivided into the cool dry season (May to August), and the hot dry season (September to October/November). The modifying influence of altitude gives the country pleasant subtropical weather rather than tropical conditions for most of the year.

Famous quotes containing the word seasons:

    There is no single face in nature, because every eye that looks upon it, sees it from its own angle. So every mans spice-box seasons his own food.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)

    to his eyes, Funnyface Or Elephant as yet
    Mean nothing. His distinction between Me and Us
    Is a matter of taste; his seasons are Dry and Wet;
    He thinks as his mouth does.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

    I will venture to affirm, that the three seasons wherein our corn has miscarried did no more contribute to our present misery, than one spoonful of water thrown upon a rat already drowned would contribute to his death; and that the present plentiful harvest, although it should be followed by a dozen ensuing, would no more restore us, than it would the rat aforesaid to put him near the fire, which might indeed warm his fur-coat, but never bring him back to life.
    Jonathan Swift (1667–1745)
