In the Czech Republic, there are 2.7 million registered cars. A calculated estimate (made on a sample of 240,000 cars) is that 450,000 (16%) cars were once stolen or contain stolen parts. In total, 23,000 cars were stolen in 2004, of which 4,000 were found (17%).
