Chatham House Grammar School - History

History

Chatham House was founded in 1797 by Dr William Humble along Chatham Street, although there is evidence that the school had preexisted prior to its formal establishment. The school underwent major changes during the 1800s. The buildings were renovated and expanded and rugby and hockey were introduced into the sporting programme.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

They are a sort of post-house,where the Fates
Change horses, making history change its tune,
Then spur away o’er empires and o’er states,
Leaving at last not much besides chronology,
    Excepting the post-obits of theology.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
