Political Fundraising and Convictions
Kushner is a major donor to the Democratic Party, most notably to former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey. In 2005, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, Kushner was convicted of witness tampering, tax evasion and making illegal campaign contributions and was sentenced to two years in prison. He has since been released.
