Chandler Brossard - Early Life and Education

Early Life and Education

Brossard was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and had brothers Vincent and Boyd and a sister Adele. Both their mother Therese and father were educated, from the Mormon elite and upper-middle-class families who were major landowners in the area. After his parents separated, his mother struggled to support the family. The family moved to Washington, D.C., where he grew up. Brossard dropped out of school at age eleven and was chiefly self-educated. He suffered from migraines starting in childhood.

Famous quotes containing the words early, life and/or education:

Names on a list, whose faces I do not recall
But they are gone to early death, who late in school
Distinguished the belt feed lever from the belt holding pawl.
    Richard Eberhart (b. 1904)

True Shandeism, think what you will against it, opens the heart and lungs, and like all those affections which partake of its nature, it forces the blood and other vital fluids of the body to run freely thro’ its channels, and makes the wheel of life run long and chearfully round.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)

A good education ought to help people to become both more receptive to and more discriminating about the world: seeing, feeling, and understanding more, yet sorting the pertinent from the irrelevant with an ever finer touch, increasingly able to integrate what they see and to make meaning of it in ways that enhance their ability to go on growing.
    Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)
