Chain Store - Restaurant Chains

Restaurant Chains

A restaurant chain is a set of related restaurants with the same name in many different locations that are either under shared corporate ownership (e.g., McDonald's in the U.S.) or franchising agreements. Typically, the restaurants within a chain are built to a standard format (through architectural prototype development) and offer a standard menu. Fast food restaurants are the most common, but sit-down restaurant chains (such as TimberLodge Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse, T.G.I. Friday's, Ruby Tuesday, and Olive Garden) also exist. Restaurant chains are often found near highways, shopping malls and tourist areas.

Famous quotes containing the words restaurant and/or chains:

In a restaurant one is both observed and unobserved. Joy and sorrow can be displayed and observed “unwittingly,” the writer scowling naively and the diners wondering, What the hell is he doing?
    David Mamet (b. 1947)

    ‘Rise like Lions after slumber
    In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you—
    Ye are many—they are few.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)
