Famous quotes containing the words cathedral of, cathedral, christ and/or saviour:

... the first cathedral you see remains with you forever as the cathedral of the world.
    M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)

The charm, one might say the genius of memory, is that it is choosy, chancy, and temperamental: it rejects the edifying cathedral and indelibly photographs the small boy outside, chewing a hunk of melon in the dust.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)

He weren’t no saint—but at Jedgment
I’d run my chance with Jim,
    ‘Longside of some pious gentlemen
That wouldn’t shook hands with him.
He seen his duty, a dead-sure thing,—
And went for it, thar an’ then:
And Christ ain’t a-goin’ to be too hard
On a man that died for me.
    John Milton Hay (1838–1905)

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
consider all the works thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
thy pow’r thro’out the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee,
    How great thou art!
    Stuart K. Hine (b. 1899)
