Captain Planet and The Planeteers - Music

Music

The show's intro theme was composed by Tom Worrall.

The ending theme (maintained by both DIC and Hanna-Barbera’s versions) is considered one of the most memorable parts of the series due to its catchy main chorus and rock track ("Captain Planet, he’s our hero, gonna take pollution down to zero"). Its lyrics were written by show producer Nick Boxer and is performed by Murray McFadden and Timothy Mulhollan. During the end credits, James Coburn, in character as Lootin Plunder, utters the immortal line "You'll pay for this Captain Planet", which has since become a cult saying.

Famous quotes containing the word music:

    A man in all the world’s new fashion planted,
    That hath a mint of phrases in his brain.
    One who the music of his own vain tongue
    Doth ravish like enchanting harmony.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    This music crept by me upon the waters,
    Allaying both their fury and my passion
    With its sweet air; thence have I followed it,
    Or it hath drawn me rather.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Slow, slow, fresh fount, keep time with my salt tears;
    Yet slower yet, oh faintly gentle springs:
    List to the heavy part the music bears,
    “Woe weeps out her division when she sings.”
    Droop herbs and flowers;
    Fall grief in showers;
    “Our beauties are not ours”:
    Oh, I could still,
    Like melting snow upon some craggy hill,
    Drop, drop, drop, drop,
    Since nature’s pride is, now, a withered daffodil.
    Ben Jonson (1572–1637)
