Camrose Kodiaks - History

History

When the Kodiaks completed their dismal rookie season in the AJHL in 1998, it is unlikely that anyone could imagine how dominating the Kodiaks would become in the early 2000s. With four division titles, three league championships, four Doyle Cup titles as Western Canadian champions, two silver medals at the Royal Bank Cup, and a Royal Bank Cup national championship in 2001, the Kodiaks may well be one of the most dominant teams in Canadian Junior A hockey in the past six years. Attendance wise, they finish every year 2nd and first in the South division.

As well as in their short history, over 50 alumni have gone on to further their education through hockey - 30 of them to NCAA programs.

As of 2009, the Kodiaks have seen 4 former players skate in the NHL, the first of these being Brennan Evans, who made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames, in the 2004 playoffs against the Detroit Red Wings.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The true theater of history is therefore the temperate zone.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

There is nothing truer than myth: history, in its attempt to “realize” myth, distorts it, stops halfway; when history claims to have “succeeded” this is nothing but humbug and mystification. Everything we dream is “realizable.” Reality does not have to be: it is simply what it is.
    Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)

The history of work has been, in part, the history of the worker’s body. Production depended on what the body could accomplish with strength and skill. Techniques that improve output have been driven by a general desire to decrease the pain of labor as well as by employers’ intentions to escape dependency upon that knowledge which only the sentient laboring body could provide.
    Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)
