Village Life
From May to the end of September, Village Life activities can be found on the weekends. The village is open to visitors on those days, with volunteers playing the part of villagers going about their daily tasks such as cooking, dyeing, or daubing homes. They are trained to speak from an authentic point of view, about their personal histories and local events.

Famous quotes containing the words village and/or life:
“The next forenoon we went to Oldtown.... The Indian is said to cultivate the vices rather than the virtues of the white man. Yet this village was cleaner than I expected, far cleaner than such Irish villages as I have seen.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Why should not our whole life and its scenery be actually thus fair and distinct? All our lives want a suitable background. They should at least, like the life of the anchorite, be as impressive to behold as objects in a desert, a broken shaft or crumbling mound against a limitless horizon.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
