California State Military Reserve

The California State Military Reserve (CSMR) is the state defense force of California enumerated in 32USC109(c) and CMVC § 550. The military reserve provides California with a trained and organized military force in the event of a state security emergency when the National Guard is deployed (This statement conflicts with CMVC § 550 and implies CSMR has no mission unless the national guard is deployed. Need citation.). Note that the CSMR is a military entity authorized by both the State Code of California and Executive Order. The CSMR is the state’s authorized militia. Unlike the Civil Air Patrol or the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, each CSMR member is subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) per CMVC § 560. The CSMR comprises retired active and reserve military personnel and selected professional persons who volunteer their time and talents in further service to their state.

Famous quotes containing the words california, state, military and/or reserve:

The Indian remarked as before, “Must have hard wood to cook moose-meat,” as if that were a maxim, and proceeded to get it. My companion cooked some in California fashion, winding a long string of the meat round a stick and slowly turning it in his hand before the fire. It was very good. But the Indian, not approving of the mode, or because he was not allowed to cook it his own way, would not taste it.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Since the last one in a graveyard is believed to be the next one fated to die, funerals often end in a mad scramble.
—Administration in the State of Texa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

There are many examples of women that have excelled in learning, and even in war, but this is no reason we should bring ‘em all up to Latin and Greek or else military discipline, instead of needle-work and housewifry.
    Bernard Mandeville (1670–1733)

I do not know what right I have to so much happiness, but rather hold it in reserve till the time of my desert.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
