Burnt Offering was a punk fanzine based in and around Northampton, England, from 1979 to 1980.
In keeping with the DIY style of the time, Burnt Offering's house style was a mixture of badly typed articles, ransom note effect lettering and cartoon drawings. Its content included interviews, rants, reviews and news of forthcoming gigs.
Burnt Offering ran for twelve issues, sold for 10 pence and was available via clothes shops and record shops.
In 2006 The Isaws, who had been a prominent local band interviewed by B.O. in 1979, released a demo CD titled Burnt Offering.
Famous quotes containing the words burnt and/or offering:
“The trouble is that no devastating or redeeming fires have ever burnt in my life.... My life began by flickering out.”
—Ivan Goncharov (18121891)
“Frigidity is desire imagined by a woman who doesnt desire the man offering himself to her. Its the desire of a woman for a man who hasnt yet come to her, whom she doesnt yet know. Shes faithful to this stranger even before she belongs to him. Frigidity is the non-desire for whatever is not him.”
—Marguerite Duras (b. 1914)
