Bukharan Jews, also Bukharian Jews or Bukhari Jews, (Persian: یهودی بخارایی Yahūde-ye Bukhārāī ; Russian: Бухарские евреи Bukharskie evrei ; Hebrew: בוכרים Bukharim ; Tajik and Bukhori Cyrillic: яҳудиёни бухороӣ Yahūdieni bukhoroj (Bukharan Jews) or яҳудиёни Бухоро Yahūdieni Bukhoro (Jews of Bukhara), Bukhori Hebrew Script: יהודיאני בוכאראי and יהודיאני בוכארי), also called the Binai Israel, are Jews from Central Asia who speak Bukhori, a dialect of the Tajik-Persian language. Their name comes from the former Central Asian Emirate of Bukhara, which once had a sizable Jewish community. Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the great majority have emigrated to Israel or to the United States (especially Queens, New York), while others have emigrated to Europe or Australia.

Famous quotes containing the word jews:
“We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.”
—Bible: New Testament, Galatians 2:15-16.
