Despite the short period of operation the BUF attracted prominent members and supporters. These included:

  • Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, 8th Duke of Buccleuch KT GCVO TD PC, brother of Lord William Scott, who was another member.

  • Walter Erskine, 12th Earl of Mar KT JP, father of Lord Erskine, who was another member.
  • Josslyn Hay, 22nd Earl of Erroll - Member of the Happy Valley set, famed for the unsolved case surrounding his murder and the sensation it caused during wartime Britain
