Breakbeat Era

Breakbeat Era was a short-lived British project, that combined the breakbeat talent of drum and bass producers, Roni Size and DJ Die, with the vocals of singer Leonie Laws. Spearheaded by the single "Ultra-Obscene", they then released as an album under the same title in 1999.

In conjunction with the album's release, the group was also seen as a live act in the U.S. and UK in a similar vein as Reprazent, with focus on Leonie Laws.

The original mix of the track "Breakbeat Era" first appeared under the name of Scorpio (aka Roni Size and DJ Die) featuring Leonie Laws, when it was included on the compilation Music Box: A New Era In Drum & Bass in 1996. That mix was released on the 12" release under the Breakbeat Era name in 1998.

As the album was a one-off project, other releases seem unlikely. As of 2006, Laws was working with a drum and bass band called Blackout dnb. She did provide vocals for DJ Die's "Little Punk" track on the Skate Or Die E.P. released on Die's own Clear Skyz label in 2008.

Famous quotes containing the word era:

Erasmus was the light of his century; others were its strength: he lighted the way; others knew how to walk on it while he himself remained in the shadow as the source of light always does. But he who points the way into a new era is no less worthy of veneration than he who is the first to enter it; those who work invisibly have also accomplished a feat.
