Brazil competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. After getting the best results ever in 1996, with fifteen medals, including three golds, the Brazilian athletes were disappointing in Australia, winning twelve medals, but no golds. 205 competitors, 111 men and 94 women, took part in 96 events in 23 sports.
