Brannon Braga - Criticism

Criticism

Along with Star Trek franchise head and Enterprise co-creator Rick Berman, Braga has often been the subject of heated fan criticism, especially with regards to his showrunning duties on Voyager and Enterprise. Responding to accusations from Star Trek fandom that he was responsible for Star Trek's declining ratings and eventual cancellation, Braga commented:

It's not a pleasant thing to think of yourself to blame. There are other factors involved with Star Trek losing its audience appeal over the years, but I will take my share of the blame creatively. It's almost impossible for me to sit here and say 'yes, I did this, that, and this wrong' and I'm certainly not going to get on the internet and look at what the fans think, because that would be too painful. But give it a little more time I'm sure I can look back and figure out what I did wrong."

Famous quotes containing the word criticism:

I am opposed to writing about the private lives of living authors and psychoanalyzing them while they are alive. Criticism is getting all mixed up with a combination of the Junior F.B.I.- men, discards from Freud and Jung and a sort of Columnist peep- hole and missing laundry list school.... Every young English professor sees gold in them dirty sheets now. Imagine what they can do with the soiled sheets of four legal beds by the same writer and you can see why their tongues are slavering.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)

A tailor can adapt to any medium, be it poetry, be it criticism. As a poet, he can mend, and with the scissors of criticism he can divide.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

A friend of mine spoke of books that are dedicated like this: “To my wife, by whose helpful criticism ...” and so on. He said the dedication should really read: “To my wife. If it had not been for her continual criticism and persistent nagging doubt as to my ability, this book would have appeared in Harper’s instead of The Hardware Age.”
    Brenda Ueland (1891–1985)
