The Bogan River is a minor river in the Central West and Orana regions of New South Wales, Australia. From its origin near Parkes, the Bogan River flows for about 617 kilometres (383 mi) in length and flows into the Little Bogan River to form the Darling River, near Bourke. The Bogan River forms part of the Macquarie-Bogan River catchment; which is part of the Murray-Darling basin.
Famous quotes containing the words bogan and/or river:
“the anchor weeps
Its red rust downward,”
—Louise Bogan (18971970)
“The rivers tent is broken; the last fingers of leaf
Clutch and sink into the wet bank. The wind
Crosses the brown land, unheard. The nymphs are departed.
Sweet Thames, run softly, till I end my song.
The river bears no empty bottles, sandwich papers,
Silk handkerchiefs, cardboard boxes, cigarette ends
Or other testimony of summer nights.”
—T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
