Married to Marjorie since 1968, the couple have 2 sons. Jonathan Gould was a professional footballer and played in goal for a number of clubs including Celtic F.C. and Preston North End. Jonathan once played under his father at Coventry City. Jonathan is currently an assistant coach for New Zealand-based side Wellington Phoenix FC of the Australasian A-League.
Their younger son Richard is currently Chief Executive of Surrey County Cricket Club.
He is now retired and living in Portishead.
