History
The Blue Mountains Public Broadcasting Society was set up in Katoomba in 1985. In June 1992, the then Australian Broadcasting Tribunal granted a full-time community broadcasting licence to the society. In 1994 the station purchased a satellite dish to enable it to receive the CBAA Community Radio Network program feed, allowing 89.1 Radio Blue Mountains to broadcast 24 hours a day. The Society celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2007. In August 2008 the station obtained a license to broadcast on the Internet and began implementing Internet streaming systems.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“... in a history of spiritual rupture, a social compact built on fantasy and collective secrets, poetry becomes more necessary than ever: it keeps the underground aquifers flowing; it is the liquid voice that can wear through stone.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
“Literary works cannot be taken over like factories, or literary forms of expression like industrial methods. Realist writing, of which history offers many widely varying examples, is likewise conditioned by the question of how, when and for what class it is made use of.”
—Bertolt Brecht (18981956)
“Classes struggle, some classes triumph, others are eliminated. Such is history; such is the history of civilization for thousands of years.”
—Mao Zedong (18931976)
