Bishop Cotton Boys' School - The School Song

The School Song

The Cotton's school song was penned by Rev. Herbert Pakenham-Walsh, of the Brotherhood of St. Peter. The words were set to music by N.M. Saunders, Esq. With its refrain "On, Straight, On", it follows the spirit of the School Motto, "Nec Dextrorsum, Nec Sinistrorsum", Latin for "Neither to the Right Nor to the Left".

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or song:

Dissonance between family and school, therefore, is not only inevitable in a changing society; it also helps to make children more malleable and responsive to a changing world. By the same token, one could say that absolute homogeneity between family and school would reflect a static, authoritarian society and discourage creative, adaptive development in children.
    Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)

The screech and mechanical uproar of the big city turns the citified head, fills citified ears—as the song of birds, wind in the trees, animal cries, or as the voices and songs of his loved ones once filled his heart. He is sidewalk- happy.
    Frank Lloyd Wright (1869–1959)
