Birmingham Moor Street Railway Station - Current Services

Current Services

Moor Street is currently served by local services through Shirley and Henley-in-Arden to Stratford-upon-Avon and to Leamington Spa via Solihull. There are also services to Worcester Shrub Hill via Stourbridge Junction and Kidderminster. These are operated by London Midland, using Class 172s.

Chiltern Railways operates services between London Marylebone and Snow Hill which call at this station, and express locomotive hauled trains which start or terminate at the recently re-opened terminal platforms at Moor Street. On summer Sundays it is used by steam locomotives running tourist specials between Snow Hill and Stratford upon Avon and trains between Snow Hill and Tyseley for Vintage Trains.

The signposted route for passengers travelling between New Street and Moor Street stations involves a five-minute walk through a tunnel under the Bullring shopping centre. Although the railway lines into New Street pass directly underneath Moor Street station, there is no track connection.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or services:

    Beneath the azure current floweth;
    Above, the golden sunlight glows.
    Rebellious, the storm it wooeth,
    As if the storms could give repose.
    Mikhail Lermontov (1814–1841)

    Men will say that in supporting their wives, in furnishing them with houses and food and clothes, they are giving the women as much money as they could ever hope to earn by any other profession. I grant it; but between the independent wage-earner and the one who is given his keep for his services is the difference between the free-born and the chattel.
    Elizabeth M. Gilmer (1861–1951)
