Career and History

After working in Europe predominantly in the music industry, Dobbins returned to America to embark on a career as a radio producer, primarily at WNBC and WABC in New York, before eventually moving to California where he became involved with the original Gold's Gym. During this period Dobbins got to know several male bodybuilders such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, and undertook promotional work for the gym. This attracted the attention of Joe Weider, and Dobbins began writing for Muscle & Fitness and eventually was made the founding editor of Flex magazine.

Famous quotes containing the words career and, career and/or history:

Like the old soldier of the ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty. Goodbye.
    Douglas MacArthur (1880–1964)

Some major form of recognition seems to have to mark a woman’s career for her to be able to go out on a limb without having her credentials questioned.
    Ruth Behar (b. 1956)

What would we not give for some great poem to read now, which would be in harmony with the scenery,—for if men read aright, methinks they would never read anything but poems. No history nor philosophy can supply their place.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
