Big Brother 6 (U.S.) - Summary

Summary

All 14 HouseGuests entered the house on Day 1 with their secret partner. They then competed in the first food competition, "Wipe Out", which put half of the HouseGuests on the peanut butter and jelly diet. The members of the winning team then competed in an endurance competition against each other, which Rachel won. The seven members of the team that won the food competition promised to stick together for a few weeks, while Eric attempted to form a guys alliance with himself, Kaysar, Michael and James. Rachel was given clues about a hidden bedroom, which she later found. Inside of the bedroom were three locked safes, as well as the key to the hot tub. On Day 3, Ashlea and Kaysar were nominated for eviction. On Day 7, HouseGuests competed in the "Rec-Tangled" Power of Veto competition. Rachel chose Maggie to compete with her, while Kaysar chose Eric and Ashlea chose Howie. Rachel won the competition, which required HouseGuests to untangle a rope while climbing over various poles. Though initially considering using the Power of Veto on Ashlea to nominate Jennifer, Rachel ultimately chose not to use the Power of Veto. On Day 12, Ashlea was evicted in a nine to two vote, receiving the votes of Janelle and James.

Following Ashlea's eviction, Eric won the "Fast & Easy" HoH competition, in which the HouseGuests who answered a question last was eliminated. The following day, HouseGuests competed in the "Snack Shack from Hell" food competition, in which they ate various meals which consisted of disgusting foods. On Day 13, Eric nominated Michael and Janelle in the house, who had formed a romantic relationship in the house. On Day 14, James won the "High and Dry" Veto competition, which required HouseGuests to transport cups of water across the yard to get a ball out of a glass box. James chose not to use the Power of Veto. Eric and Michael engaged in an argument that led to producers having to separate them by placing them in different rooms. Minutes later, Kaysar and Ivette had an argument that also required producers to intervene. On Day 19, Michael was evicted in a nine to one vote, only receiving the vote of his partner, Kaysar.

Following Michael's eviction, Kaysar won the "Majority Rules" Head of Household competition, in which HouseGuests answered A or B questions based on how they felt the majority would vote. On Day 20, HouseGuests competed in the "Will Spell for Food" food competition, in which they had to correctly spell various words that were about food. Each correct answer allowed the group to remove a slot from a wheel. If the wheel landed on an empty slot, they won food for the week. The house lost food for the week. Kaysar later nominated James and Maggie for eviction. When talking with James, Kaysar revealed he knew that James and Sarah were partners, and after James confessed, Kaysar made an alliance with them. He then added Rachel, Howie, and Janelle to the alliance, and they began to refer to themselves as the "Sovereign Six" alliance. On Day 21, James won the "Knight Moves" Power of Veto competition, which required HouseGuest to maneuver on a life sized chess board. James later used the Veto to save himself, and Eric was named his replacement nominee. On Day 26, Eric was evicted in a five to four vote, receiving the votes of Jennifer, Ivette, Beau and April.

Following her partner's eviction, Maggie won the "Power Roller" HoH competition, involving the HouseGuests rolling a ball and attempting to avoid holes throughout the path. After winning HoH, Maggie formed the "Friendship" alliance with Ivette, Beau, Jennifer, and April. The HouseGuest later competed in the "Matching Munchies" competition, in which one group of HouseGuests had to guess the answer to a question using food, and had to match their answer with a member of the other group. The HouseGuests won food for the week. On Day 27, Maggie nominated Kaysar and James for eviction, feeling they were most responsible for Eric's eviction the previous week. The following day, HouseGuests competed in the "Couch Potato" Power of Veto competition, which involved them throwing balls at their television in an attempt to change the channel to 5. Sarah won the Power of Veto, and chose to use it on James. Maggie named Janelle his replacement nominee. On Day 29, Rachel, Sarah, and Jennifer won the "Big Brother Movie Marquee" luxury competition, and won a movie night in the HoH room. On Day 33, Kaysar was evicted in a seven to one vote, only receiving the vote of James. It was revealed that a previously evicted HouseGuest would later return to the game, though Ashlea was not eligible as she had voluntarily chosen to leave sequester after being evicted.

Following Kaysar's eviction, Howie won the "Eliminator" competition, in which HouseGuests answered questions and chose which contestants were eliminated each round. HouseGuests later competed in the "Conveyer Belch" food competition, which required them to eat various desserts as they came out of a conveyer belt. The team with the most uneaten food at the end of the competition lost. When talking with Maggie, Howie learned that James had sworn on the bible to nominate Howie and Rachel should he win HoH. Not realizing James was lying, Howie nominated James and Sarah for eviction, causing a rift in the "Sovereign" alliance. James later won the "A Lotta Pinata" Power of Veto competition, and used the Veto on himself. Howie chose to nominate Ivette as a replacement nominee. On Day 40, Sarah was evicted in a six to one vote. Minutes later, it was revealed Kaysar would be returning to the Big Brother house, and had earned 82% of the public vote over Eric and Michael.

Following Kaysar's return to the house, HouseGuests competed in the "Pressure Cooker" HoH competition, which required them to hold onto a button while standing in a glass box. Each eliminated HouseGuest opened a box with either a reward or a punishment in it. On Day 41, Jennifer nominated Janelle and Rachel for eviction and said she would backdoor James after the Veto was used. On Day 42, Rachel won the "Coast For the Most" Veto competition and used the Power of Veto on herself. Jennifer went back on her word and nominated Kaysar as a replacement nominee. Following the nomination, Janelle and Howie went on a rampage against the members of the "Friendship" alliance, with Howie referring to April as "busto", in reference to her breast augmentation. Janelle also attacked April, calling her a "gold-digger" and Jennifer a "slut". A drunk Janelle and Beau later had a physical altercation that involved shoving and scratching. After returning inside, the HouseGuests learned that it was a Double Eviction week, and that Janelle would immediately make her nominations. Janelle nominated Jennifer and Maggie for eviction. Following her nomination, Janelle spouted the now infamous line "Bye, bye, bitches!" just as the live show ended. The phrase is often used as a catch phrase by Big Brother fans, and is considered one of the most iconic Big Brother moments. She nominated Howie and Janelle for eviction, though secretly planned on backdooring James. On Day 56, April won the "Playing Dirty" Veto competitions, in which HouseGuests dug through the mud to find keys. After winning the competition, April used the Power of Veto on Janelle, and nominated James as a replacement nominee. On Day 61, James was evicted in a four to zero vote.

Following James's eviction, Howie won the "Playing It Straight" HoH competition, which required HouseGuests to roll a bowling ball down a line for as long as possible. Upon returning inside, the HouseGuests learned it would be another Double Eviction Week, and Howie would immediately make his nominations. He chose to nominate Ivette and Beau, the last secret pair remaining in the house. Famous quotes containing the word summary:

I have simplified my politics into an utter detestation of all existing governments; and, as it is the shortest and most agreeable and summary feeling imaginable, the first moment of an universal republic would convert me into an advocate for single and uncontradicted despotism. The fact is, riches are power, and poverty is slavery all over the earth, and one sort of establishment is no better, nor worse, for a people than another.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

Product of a myriad various minds and contending tongues, compact of obscure and minute association, a language has its own abundant and often recondite laws, in the habitual and summary recognition of which scholarship consists.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)
