Big Brother 6 (U.S.)

Big Brother 6 was the sixth season of the American reality television series Big Brother. The series premiered on July 7, 2005 and concluded on September 20 when Maggie Ausburn was crowned the winner with four votes from the jury. The format of the program remained largely unchanged from previous seasons: a group of contestants, referred to as HouseGuests, are enclosed in the Big Brother House under the surveillance of cameras and microphones. Each week the HouseGuests will vote to evict one of their own until two HouseGuests remain on finale night. The highlight programs were announced by Clayton A.S. Halsey. Julie Chen hosted the season premiere, evictions and the season finale.

The sixth season of CBS's Big Brother featured 14 HouseGuest competing to win the grand prize. The HouseGuests compete to win a $500,000 prize, with a $50,000 prize offered to the runner-up. Unlike previous seasons, each HouseGuest entered the game with a secret partner, their partner being someone they knew prior to entering the house. If a secret pair were to make it to the Final Two together, the winner would earn $1,000,000 and the runner-up would receive $250,000. Kaysar and Michael were the first pair to be evicted, while Ivette and Beau were the last remaining pair. This was the first season to be filmed in the newly remodeled Big Brother house, located in a CBS sound stage previously used to film the sitcom, Yes, Dear.

Houseguests Janelle Pierzina, James Rhine, Howie Gordon, and Kaysar Ridha returned to compete in Big Brother 7: All-Stars, where they placed 3rd, 7th, 8th, and 10th respectively. Runner-Up Ivette Corredero was a candidate to return for that season, but ultimately was not selected to return. HouseGuest April Lewis also returned during Big Brother: All Stars and participated in a Power of Veto competition. HouseGuest Eric Littmann also made a brief appearance that season, in which he stole an object for an upcoming Head of Household competition. Janelle went on to make brief appearances in seasons eight, ten, and eleven and in 2012 she returned as a "coach" and in a twist returned as a HouseGuest on Big Brother 14. She came in 12th place.

Famous quotes containing the words big and/or brother:

Nothing sets a person up more than having something turn out just the way it’s supposed to be, like falling into a Swiss snowdrift and seeing a big dog come up with a little cask of brandy round its neck.
    Claud Cockburn (1904–1981)

    A brother noble,
Whose nature is so far from doing harms
    That he suspects none.
