Big Brother 2004 (UK)

Big Brother 2004, also known as Big Brother 5, was the fifth series of the British reality television series Big Brother, in which a number of contestants live in an isolated house trying to avoid being evicted by the public with the aim of winning a large cash prize at the end of the run.

Due to the poor reaction to the previous series, the theme for this year's series was "Big Brother turns evil", in which the housemates were subject to a more cruel environment. It launched on Channel 4 on the same night the last episode of Friends aired, and the day was promoted as 'Black Friday'. The series began on 28 May 2004, and ended on 6 August in the same year and was the second-most watched series of Big Brother UK (the first being Big Brother 3), averaging 5.1 million viewers.

Nadia Almada won the series, and was the first of two transsexual contestants to do so, the second being Luke Anderson, who won the show in 2012.

Nadia Almada returned in 2010 for Ultimate Big Brother and entered on Day 1. Michelle Bass and Victor Ebuwa later joined the House on Day 4. Nadia and Michelle became the third and fourth evicted housemates respectively but Victor made the final and achieved fourth place.

Famous quotes containing the words big and/or brother:

The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts.
    Donald Trump (b. 1946)

And Space with gaunt grey eyes and her brother Time
    Wheeling and whispering come,
    James Elroy Flecker (1884–1919)
