Famous quotes containing the words big and/or beat:

Every thing in this world, said my father, is big with jest,—and has wit in it, and instruction too,—if we can but find it out.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)

There are things you just can’t do in life. You can’t beat the phone company, you can’t make a waiter see you until he’s ready to see you, and you can’t go home again.
    Bill Bryson (b. 1951)
