Beaumont Leys School - Royal Visit

Royal Visit

On 29 March 2010, His Royal Highness, The Earl of Wessex flew in by helicopter to the school. This was due to the school having one of the highest completion rates in the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze level within the East Midlands. Prince Edward is the Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, and was impressed by the commitment of both staff and students to the scheme. During his visit the students were demontstrating some of the skills required to achieve the Bronze award including pitching tents, map reading and cooking.

Famous quotes containing the words royal and/or visit:

An Englishman, methinks,—not to speak of other European nations,—habitually regards himself merely as a constituent part of the English nation; he is a member of the royal regiment of Englishmen, and is proud of his company, as he has reason to be proud of it. But an American—one who has made tolerable use of his opportunities—cares, comparatively, little about such things, and is advantageously nearer to the primitive and the ultimate condition of man in these respects.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Madam, or sir, would you visit on the butterfly the sins of the caterpillar?
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
