Bear Lake State Park is a state park of Idaho, USA, along the shore of Bear Lake. The park is located in southern Bear Lake County near the border with Utah and Wyoming. There is a separate Bear Lake State Park on the southern shore in Utah.
The park consists of two separate units along the shore of Bear Lake. The north unit, along the north shore of the lake, is for day use only. The east unit, along the eastern shore of the lake, provides day use and overnight camping with electrical hook-ups. Each unit provides a beach over 1 mile (1.6 km) in length. The beach access in both units are popular destinations for summer water recreation on the lake. The gradual slope of the lake bottom provides a large swimming area. The park also provides winter access to the lake for the popular runs of Bonneville cisco. The Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located alongside the lake near the north unit. The park office is located in nearby Montpelier, approximately 20 miles (32 km) north.
Famous quotes containing the words bear, lake, state and/or park:
“The service a man renders his friend is trivial and selfish, compared with the service he knows his friend stood in readiness to yield him, alike before he had begun to serve his friend, and now also. Compared with that good-will I bear my friend, the benefit it is in my power to render him seems small.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Will lovely, lively, virginal today
Shatter for us with a wings drunken blow
This hard, forgotten lake haunted in snow
By the sheer ice of flocks not flown away!”
—Stéphane Mallarmé (18421898)
“Beluthahatchee is a country where all unpleasant doings and sayings are forgotten, a land of forgiveness and forgetfulness. When a woman accusingly reminds her man of something in the past, he replies, I thought that was in Beluthahatchee. Or a person may say to another, to dismiss some matter, Oh, thats in Beluthahatchee.”
—For the State of Florida, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
“and the words never said,
And the ominous, ominous dancing ahead.
We sat in the car park till twenty to one
And now Im engaged to Miss Joan Hunter Dunn.”
—Sir John Betjeman (19061984)
