Barrie Line - Future

Future

The government of Ontario announced funding to Metrolinx for network expansion on December 13, 2007, which included $20 million to build a second track between Union Station and Bradford to enable all-day two-way service. This is expected to consist of peak service between Bradford GO Station and Union Station of one train every 15-20 minutes, with some trains continuing to Barrie; and off-peak service between Bradford GO Station and Union Station of one train every 30 minutes, with bus connections to Barrie.

As a part of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension, a new GO station will be built to interchange with the Sheppard West Subway station. The current York University station will be abandoned when the new station opens, which is expected to be in 2015.

To provide an interchange with York Region's Viva bus rapid transit service, a new station will be built at Highway 7. The station is to be called Concord Station, after the community of Concord in which it will be located.

Famous quotes containing the word future:

I am always glad to think that my education was, for the most part, informal, and had not the slightest reference to a future business career. It left me free and untrammeled to approach my business problems without the limiting influence of specific training.
    Alice Foote MacDougall (1867–1945)

Captain Hank Quinlan: C’mon, read my future for me.
    Tanya: You haven’t got any.
Captain Hank Quinlan: Hmmm. Whadya mean?
Tanya: Your future is all used up.
    Orson Welles (1915–1985)

What a prodigious growth this English race, especially the American branch of it, is having! How soon will it subdue and occupy all the wild parts of this continent and of the islands adjacent. No prophecy, however seemingly extravagant, as to future achievements in this way [is] likely to equal the reality.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
