There are six Assam Legislative Assembly constituencies in this district, the Sorbhog, Barpeta, Jania, Baghbor, Sarukhetri, and Chenga. Sorbhog is in the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, whilst the other five are in the Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency.
