Tourist Attractions
Barne Barton is in relatively close proximity to popular tourist attractions such as Cotehele and Buckland Abbey. However these attractions are over 5 miles away. Barne Barton plays another role in tourist attractions as tourists come into Barne Barton in coaches, to see the dockyard as this area has a beautiful view of it.
This viewpoint will be lost when the municipal incinerator is completed in 2014 with a main building height of 45 metres and a chimney height of 95 metres totally blocking this unique view for at least the next 25 years. (MVV elevation drawings fig 6.2A)

Famous quotes containing the words tourist and/or attractions:
“There is a mystery that floats between
The tourist and the town. Imagination
Estranges it from her. She need not suffer
Or die here. It is none of her affair,
Its calm heroic vistas make no claim.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
“The world, this shadow of the soul, or other me, lies wide around. Its attractions are the keys which unlock my thoughts and make me acquainted with myself. I run eagerly into this resounding tumult. I grasp the hands of those next to me, and take my place in the ring to suffer and to work, taught by an instinct, that so shall the dumb abyss be vocal with speech.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
