Baptist Evangelical Association of Madagascar

The Baptist Evangelical Association of Madagascar is a fellowship of evangelical Baptist churches in Madagascar.

Four Malagasy Baptist churches formed this association in 1997, whose purpose is "implanting and developing true evangelical and conservative churches in Madagascar." In 2005 four churches were members of the association. Leadership is vested in a board of directors.

The association's articles of faith contain statements on the inspiration of the Scriptures; the Triune God; the humanity, deity, virgin birth, death, resurrection and second coming of Jesus Christ; the Fall of Man; of Salvation through repentance and faith; an independent autonomous church; two ordinances - baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper; and the bodily resurrection.

Famous quotes containing the words baptist, evangelical and/or association:

You should approach Joyce’s Ulysses as the illiterate Baptist preacher approaches the Old Testament: with faith.
    William Faulkner (1897–1962)

Chastity is a monkish and evangelical superstition, a greater foe to natural temperance even than unintellectual sensuality.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

It is not merely the likeness which is precious ... but the association and the sense of nearness involved in the thing ... the fact of the very shadow of the person lying there fixed forever! It is the very sanctification of portraits I think—and it is not at all monstrous in me to say ... that I would rather have such a memorial of one I dearly loved, than the noblest Artist’s work ever produced.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)
