Back to Basics is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Christina Aguilera, released on August 10, 2006 by RCA Records. The album features what Aguilera describes as "a throwback to the 20s, 30s, and 40s-style jazz, blues, and feel-good soul music, but with a modern twist." Contributions to the album's production came from a wide range of producers including DJ Premier, Rich Harrison, Kwamé, Mark Ronson, and Linda Perry. Back to Basics is Aguilera's first studio album in four years since Stripped (2002). Upon release the album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 346,000 copies and 615,000 copies worldwide. It was certified Platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipping over 1 million copies in the US, while it sold 1.7 million copies in total. It was also certified Platinum in Europe and double Platinum in Australia and Canada.

The album made Aguilera's second U.S. non-consecutive number-one album, after 1999's Christina Aguilera. Back to Basics received positive reviews from critics, and also received a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards and won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Ain't No Other Man". The album has sold 4,500,000 copies worldwide Five official singles were released from the album: The worldwide top five hit "Ain't No Other Man", the European number one hit "Hurt" and "Candyman". "Slow Down Baby" was released as the fourth single in Australia while "Oh Mother" was released as the album's fourth single in some parts of Europe. Aguilera embarked on the Back to Basics Tour in November 2006 to promote the album, which ran for 80 shows into July 2007. It visited North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and received positive reviews and grossed a total of $90 million worldwide.
