Havins moved to New York City to study at the prestigious Circle in the Square Theatre School. She soon returned to the west coast, and in a short amount of time, in Los Angeles, California, acquired lead roles in four feature films and booked several television guest-starring spots, including Reno 911!. Her noted ambition resulted in an ABC contract in New York City, after her return there, signing on in the role of character Babe Carey Chandler on the show All My Children.
