History
The original line-up of Axis Point included, guitarist Charlie Whitney, keyboardist Eddie Hardin, bassist Charles McCracken and drummer Rob TownsendFamily and Medicine Head. They recorded Axis Point (1979) with the addition of guitarist and vocalist Bobby Tench, who had previously been a member of Streetwalkers. The songwriting on this album is split between Harden and Whitney with McCraken co-writing "Woman of the world" and "Fire it up". Townsend left and was replaced by Les Binks and they recorded their second album Boast of the Town (1980), on which Whitney and McCracken collaborate on most of the songs. Famous quotes containing the word history:
“Its not the sentiments of men which make history but their actions.”
—Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
“The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more”
—John Adams (17351826)
“Racism is an ism to which everyone in the world today is exposed; for or against, we must take sides. And the history of the future will differ according to the decision which we make.”
—Ruth Benedict (18871948)
