Australian International Documentary Conference

The Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) was established in Adelaide in 1987, with the first conference being held in the Clare Valley, north of Adelaide. It was held biennially from 1987 (with a gap in 1989), but became an annual event in 2003. It is described as being 'run by the industry for the industry'. It functions as both a conference and marketplace, that is, it aims to support both the creative and commercial needs of the industry.

Famous quotes containing the words australian, documentary and/or conference:

The Australian mind, I can state with authority, is easily boggled.
    Charles Osborne (b. 1927)

What is a novel if not a conviction of our fellow-men’s existence strong enough to take upon itself a form of imagined life clearer than reality and whose accumulated verisimilitude of selected episodes puts to shame the pride of documentary history?
    Joseph Conrad (1857–1924)

Politics is still the man’s game. The women are allowed to do the chores, the dirty work, and now and then—but only occasionally—one is present at some secret conference or other. But it’s not the rule. They can go out and get the vote, if they can and will; they can collect money, they can be grateful for being permitted to work. But that is all.
    Mary Roberts Rinehart (1876–1958)
