Malay government does not allow television station to be operated by foreigners; hence, HK TVB launched this channel in the cooperation with Malay Astro. It benefits over 100 million HK dollars every year from Astro by providing 85% programs on prime time. Moreover, TVB is advertising agency of Astro Wah Lai Toi and offers counseling service for it.
In order to satisfy the needs of more audiences, TVB dramas that Astro Wah Lai Toi plays have two languages, Cantonese and Mandarin. Not only so, but to meet the needs of different audiences, all the HK dramas played in this channel have Mandarin and Malay subtitles. Furthermore, every year Astro Wah Lai Toi holds many major events, such as Astro Star Quest, Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant, Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards, etc.
Astro has also launched Astro On Demand in July 2007.
