A. flavus infection usually presents itself as powdery masses of yellow-green spores on and between corn kernels. Typically, only a few kernels are infected and present itself near the tip of the ear of corn. The corn can also appear dull or discolored as a result. Sporulation usually occurs on injured corn kernels.
