Ascension Health - History

History

Ascension Health was created on November 1, 1999 by the union of the Daughters of Charity National Health System based in St. Louis, Missouri and the Sisters of St. Joseph Health System based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In December 2002, Carondelet Health System based in Kansas City, Missouri merged with Ascension Health. In 2011, Alexian Brothers Health System joined Ascension. In 2012, Daughters of Charity Health System announced their intent to join Ascension Health. Daughters of Charity Health System had previously been part of the Daughters of Charity National Health System.
