Tying An Arbor Knot
An arbor knot is tied by first passing the line around the reel arbor. The tag end is then tied in an overhand knot around the running line. Finally, an overhand knot is tied in the tag end. When tightened, the overhand knot in the tag end jams against the overhand knot tied around the running line.

Famous quotes containing the words tying and/or knot:
“To the young mind, every thing is individual, stands by itself. By and by, it finds how to join two things, and see in them one nature; then three, then three thousand; and so, tyrannized over by its own unifying instinct, it goes on tying things together, diminishing anomalies, discovering roots running underground, whereby contrary and remote things cohere, and flower out from one stem.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“I love him who does not want to have too many virtues. One virtue is more virtue than two, since it is more knot on which to hang the rope that is destined to hang him.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
