Arab Maghreb Union - Criticism

Criticism

The term Arab Maghreb Union is considered Arab-centric, as it does not recognize the Berber population present in all five nations. In fact, in February 2012, the Moroccan foreign minister SaĆ¢deddine El Othmani proposed to remove the term "Arab" and call it the "Maghreb Union", a proposal which was rejected by all the states except Morocco and Mauritania.

Famous quotes containing the word criticism:

In criticism I will be bold, and as sternly, absolutely just with friend and foe. From this purpose nothing shall turn me.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1845)

Like speaks to like only; labor to labor, philosophy to philosophy, criticism to criticism, poetry to poetry. Literature speaks how much still to the past, how little to the future, how much to the East, how little to the West.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Of all the cants which are canted in this canting world—though the cant of hypocrites may be the worst—the cant of criticism is the most tormenting!
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)
