Amiga Advanced Graphics Architecture - Technical Detail

Technical Detail

In order to increase memory bandwidth, the Chip RAM data bus was extended to 32-bit width (as in the A3000) and the Alice chip (replacing OCS/ECS Agnus) was improved to be able to support full width access for bitplane DMA. Additionally, the memory clock was doubled.

Lisa (replacing former Denise) added support for 8-bit bitplane data fetches, 256 instances of 24-bit palette registers, and for 32-bit data transfer for bitplane graphic and sprites.

The rest of the chipset remained unchanged, as did the Blitter and Copper coprocessors in Alice, still working on 16-bit data.

Famous quotes containing the words technical and/or detail:

Where there is the necessary technical skill to move mountains, there is no need for the faith that moves mountains.
    Eric Hoffer (1902–1983)

James’s great gift, of course, was his ability to tell a plot in shimmering detail with such delicacy of treatment and such fine aloofness—that is, reluctance to engage in any direct grappling with what, in the play or story, had actually “taken place”Mthat his listeners often did not, in the end, know what had, to put it in another way, “gone on.”
    James Thurber (1894–1961)
