Positions

ABI works to bring attention to policies that would scale back an individual’s ability to safely and responsibly consume alcohol. These policies include alcohol advertising bans, alcohol sale restrictions, zero tolerance policies, alcohol sensors in all cars, sobriety checkpoints, lower legal limits, and alcohol tax increases,.

ABI supports the use of interlocks for repeat DUI offenders and opposes the device for all other Americans.

ABI also opposes raising taxes on alcohol, citing the fact that the federal, state, and local governments already collect more than one-third of the shelf-price on alcohol.

Famous quotes containing the word positions:

... liberal intellectuals ... tend to have a classical theory of politics, in which the state has a monopoly of power; hoping that those in positions of authority may prove to be enlightened men, wielding power justly, they are natural, if cautious, allies of the “establishment.”
    Susan Sontag (b. 1933)

Extreme positions are not succeeded by moderate ones, but by contrary extreme positions.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

An ... important antidote to American democracy is American gerontocracy. The positions of eminence and authority in Congress are allotted in accordance with length of service, regardless of quality. Superficial observers have long criticized the United States for making a fetish of youth. This is unfair. Uniquely among modern organs of public and private administration, its national legislature rewards senility.
    John Kenneth Galbraith (b. 1908)
