Pro Bono Efforts

AAJ has established the largest pro-bono project in American history, Trial Lawyers Care (TLC), to aid the victims of the September 11 attacks. TLC is a charitable non-profit organization, through which more than 1,100 lawyers have provided representation to more than 1,700 victim families and provided over $200 million in legal services free of charge. TLC also established The Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund to collect and distribute aid to relief organizations in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Famous quotes containing the words pro, bono and/or efforts:

It is sweet and honourable to die for one’s country.
[Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.]
Horace [Quintus Horatius Flaccus] (65–8 B.C.)

Unhappiness is best defined as the difference between our talents and our expectations.
    —Edward De Bono (b. 1933)

The attempt to be an ideal parent, that is, to behave correctly toward the child, to raise her correctly, not to give to little or too much, is in essence an attempt to be the ideal child—well behaved and dutiful—of one’s own parents. But as a result of these efforts the needs of the child go unnoticed. I cannot listen to my child with empathy if I am inwardly preoccupied with being a good mother; I cannot be open to what she is telling me.
    Alice Miller (20th century)
