Prof. Dr. Osama Ibrahim Al-Sayed Ahmad have been elected President of Alexandria University in December 2011 . This was the first time in Egypt to have presidency elections .
The Damanhour branch of the University was separated from the University by Presidential decree in 2010, and is now the independent Damanhour University.
