Ale Beer - Modern Ale

Modern Ale

Ale is typically fermented at temperatures between 15 and 24 °C (60 and 75°F). At temperatures above 24 °C (75 °F) the yeast can produce significant amounts of esters and other secondary flavour and aroma products, and the result is often a beer with slightly "fruity" compounds resembling but not limited to apple, pear, pineapple, banana, plum, cherry, or prune.

Famous quotes containing the words modern and/or ale:

    My idea is that the world outside—the so-called modern world—can only pervert and degrade the conceptions of the primitive instinct of art and feeling, and that our only chance is to accept the limited number of survivors—the one- in-a-thousand of born artists and poets—and to intensify the energy of feeling within that radiant centre.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

    Back and side go bare, go bare,
    Both foot and hand go cold;
    But belly, God send thee good ale enough;
    Whether it be new or old!
    William Stevenson (1530?–1575)
