Ale Beer

Ale Beer

Ale is a type of beer brewed from malted barley using a warm-fermentation with a strain of brewers' yeast. The yeast will ferment the beer quickly, giving it a sweet, full bodied and fruity taste. Most ales contain hops, which help preserve the beer and impart a bitter herbal flavour that balances the sweetness of the malt.

Famous quotes containing the words ale and/or beer:

    Back and side go bare, go bare,
    Both foot and hand go cold;
    But belly, God send thee good ale enough;
    Whether it be new or old!
    William Stevenson (1530?–1575)

    Now I am alone with the dead,
    flying off bridges,
    hurling myself like a beer can into the wastebasket.
    I am flying like a single red rose,
    leaving a jet stream
    of solitude....
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
